The company was established in 1991 under the name Fiskekroken AS, with the slaughterhouse having been renovated and extended several times over the last 20 years. Salten N950 is certified in accordance with GlobalGAP and the ASC standards, which is important in relation to the environment and food safety.
Salten N950 is located at Sørarnøy in Gildeskål Municipality and is the only slaughterhouse on the stretch of coast between Hamarøy in the north to Lovund in the south.
The slaughterhouse has a daily capacity of 130 tons of gutted weight, and a freezing capacity of 40 tons with a further frozen storage capacity of 200 tons. Salten N950 slaughters fish for 18 aquaculture concessions along the coast from Salten in the north to Lurøy in the south, and the facility has a total annual production 20,000-25,000 tons of gutted weight.
The company employs 40-50 people distributed over 30-40 man-years at full operation, and in a community with only 260 inhabitants it is a major employer.
