The company was founded in the summer of 2015, and on September 1st, 2015, an agreement was signed to take over the rights and recipes for the traditional products that were initially produced by Holstad Sjømat AS and then Bofisk AS, for more than 30 years. Salten Aqua AS is the largest shareholder, while Bofisk AS is a co-owner and an important partner. Salten Aqua has over time worked to gain control of the entire value chain within the farming and production of salmon, and with the production of finished products in Saltenlaks, it now has the last link of the chain in place.
Saltenlaks is produced by the Salten Aqua group in the sea areas of Salten. The aquaculture facilities are located in the most optimum areas in terms of ensuring the well-being and welfare of the salmon. Here, the salmon has the best starting point from which to develop to its optimum size and quality. The combination of ideal location, modern facilities, focus on quality, and food safety, makes Saltenlaks a sought-after product, both in Norway and abroad. From our modern and efficient slaughterhouse on the island of Sørarnøy, the salmon is transported to the production facility at Holstad, where the production of smoked and cured products is carried out.
Production and products
Traditional recipes developed locally in Holstad form the basis for the production of the products. Production is carried out by hand using “old-fashioned methods”, which ensure high quality. The following products are available for the market: Smoked salmon, archipelago salmon, lemon pepper salmon, garlic salmon, cured salmon, and smoked trout.
